For the third time in two days, police south of the Fraser River are investigating a shooting believed to be linked to extortion.

The latest incident occurred in Langley, B.C., where RCMP responded to reports of shots fired on 232 Street near 69 Avenue shortly before 5:20 a.m. Thursday.

Police said officers found evidence consistent with a shooting, but no injuries were reported. Investigators believe the suspects arrived in a dark-coloured sedan and fled the area immediately after the shots were fired.

“Based on initial information, we believe this incident is extortion related,” Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said in a news release, adding that investigators are working with partner agencies to determine whether the shooting is connected to other recent cases.

The Langley incident follows two similar shootings investigated Wednesday in Delta and Surrey, where shots were fired at homes in suspected extortion-related incidents. No injuries were reported in those cases.
