Kap’s Café in Surrey, owned by Indian celebrity Kapil Sharma, has reopened after being targeted in a shooting on the night of July 10.

Located at 8496 120 Street, the café is now open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the exception of Tuesdays, when it remains closed.

In an Instagram post, the café staff thanked the community for its “continued love and support,” adding, “With heartfelt thanks, we’re opening our doors again — ready to welcome you back with warmth, comfort, and care.”

The incident occurred in Newton, near the Surrey–North Delta border, where at least eight shots were fired at the café around 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 10. Both Surrey Police and the Delta Police Department responded to the scene. Several bullet holes were found in the windows, but no injuries were reported, despite staff being present at the time.

Kap’s Café is a recent venture launched by internationally renowned comedian and actor Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath.

Surrey Police media relations officer Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton told the Surrey Now-Leader that the investigation remains active. “The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and the possibility of extortion has not been ruled out. No arrests have been made at this time,” Houghton stated.
