Burnaby RCMP has apprehended a dump truck driver for impaired operation, marking the second such incident involving a driver from the same company in recent months.

Authorities reported that on July 3, a Burnaby RCMP designated commercial vehicle enforcement officer was trailing a loaded dump truck heading southbound in the left lane on Boundary Road. Shortly after, the officer observed the commercial vehicle repeatedly cross the center line and swerve into the right lane. The dump truck was also seen hitting the raised center median as it continued along Boundary Road.

The truck was pulled over on Marine Way at Roseberry Avenue. The driver subsequently failed a sobriety test, resulting in a 90-day driving prohibition. The vehicle itself was impounded for 30 days, and the driver was issued three violation tickets totaling over $1,300.

Officials highlighted that less than two months prior, another dump truck driver from the very same company failed an identical sobriety test and faced the same penalties after being stopped just a few hundred meters east of this latest incident.
