An immigration detainee, Jagdeep Singh, escaped from Rockyview Hospital in Calgary while undergoing a medical assessment.
The individual, an Indian national, is currently under investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for suspicion of engaging in organized crime under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
CBSA is actively working with police forces to locate Jagdeep Singh.
CBSA urged the public that if anyone with information should immediately call 911. The CBSA has strongly advised the public not to attempt to apprehend this individual themselves.
The search for the escapee remains a priority for the authorities, CBSA said in the statemnt.
