IIO investigating officer-involved shooting in Burnaby

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO) has been called to Burnaby to investigate an officer-involved shooting that resulted in one person being hospitalized.

On Monday, around 2:51 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP received a call about a domestic dispute at a residence in the 4300 block of Dundas Street. When officers arrived, they found a suspect armed with a bladed weapon.

A confrontation occurred, and police fired shots. The victim was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and is in serious condition. No one else was injured in the incident.

Authorities have confirmed that the IIO was notified and is now at the scene to investigate the police’s actions. The area has been cordoned off to facilitate the investigation.
