RICHMOND, BC – British Columbia’s police oversight agency is investigating a collision in Richmond involving an RCMP vehicle and a truck that sent five people to the hospital.

The incident occurred Monday evening when a Richmond RCMP officer, responding to a call with lights and sirens activated, was en route to a scene. The police vehicle was then involved in a collision with a truck at the intersection of Williams Road and Number Four Road. Following the initial impact, the truck struck two pedestrians and an individual on a nearby property.

According to BC RCMP, none of the five individuals transported to the hospital sustained life-threatening injuries. The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has taken over the investigation to determine if the actions or inactions of the officers are linked to the injuries sustained.
