The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over a missing person case in Maple Ridge that began in July 2025.
Background:
On August 26, 2025, Ridge Meadows RCMP attended the 22800 block of Gillis Place to gather information for the ongoing missing person investigation.
Due to suspected criminal activity, the area around the scene was cordoned off for an extended period. IHIT was called in and is working in collaboration with Ridge Meadows RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS).
Update:
IHIT has confirmed that this deployment is connected to the missing person investigation for Jessica Cunningham of Maple Ridge. During investigative efforts on August 26, human remains were discovered. IHIT is currently working closely with the BC Coroners Service to confirm the identity of the remains.
On August 27, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service charged Mylie Barron with indignity to human remains in connection with the case. He remains in custody. Initial information indicates that Jessica was last seen in June 2025. She was reported missing in July 2025, prompting Ridge Meadows RCMP to launch a missing persons investigation, which has been ongoing.
“Investigators are working diligently to understand the circumstances surrounding Jessica’s disappearance,” said S/Sgt. David Lee, IHIT Media Relations Officer. “Her name and photo are being released to seek public assistance in building a timeline of her activities leading up to the missing person report.”
IHIT investigates homicides, suspicious deaths, and high-risk missing persons cases where criminal activity is suspected.
