The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Monday morning in Chilliwack. The deceased has been named as 48-year-old Kristopher Benson, a local resident.
The incident also left a second individual injured. That person was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation began after police responded to reports of gunfire inside a residence located on Mellard Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Benson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
IHIT officials stated that they have chosen to release Benson’s name to the public in hopes of advancing the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident, or anyone who may have been in the area at the time, to contact the police immediately.
