Vancouver Police have re-arrested high-risk offender Jayson Tootiak in the Downtown Eastside. Tootiak was wanted Canada-wide after failing to return to his halfway house.

Police had previously notified the community that high-risk sex offender Jayson Tootiak had violated his curfew and was subsequently wanted across Canada.

The 49-year-old Tootiak is a dangerous offender who was convicted in Ottawa in 2012 for committing sexual offenses against strangers. He was serving a long-term supervision order and living in a halfway house in the Downtown Eastside. Tootiak failed to return to the halfway house on his designated night, leading to his whereabouts being unknown and a police search.
