Heat Pump Models Recalled Due to Overheating Risk

Health Canada has issued a recall for several popular heat pump models due to a potential overheating risk. Over 5,500 units have been sold across the country. The affected models, from Daikin, Amana, and Goodman, can switch from air conditioning to heating mode after a power interruption.
Health Canada warns that this malfunction could cause homes to overheat, potentially posing a danger to occupants. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries in either Canada or the United States, where the units are also under recall.
A corrective software update is available for the affected heat pumps. Until this update is applied, Health Canada advises that any units not yet updated should be turned off unless air conditioning is urgently needed. The recall notice includes a detailed list of the specific models affected, which were sold in Canada between May 2022 and April 2024.
