The intensifying war between the United States, Israel, and Iran has led to a severe disruption of aviation services across the Middle East. As commercial flight paths become increasingly dangerous and unreliable, governments worldwide are launching urgent operations to repatriate their citizens trapped in the conflict zone.

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand announced today that the federal government has secured a “limited number of seats” on commercial flights departing from Lebanon for Canadians attempting to flee the region. According to Anand, more than 103,000 individuals across the Middle East and the Gulf region have officially registered with Global Affairs Canada, highlighting the massive scale of the potential evacuation.

Several European allies have already successfully landed their first wave of evacuees.

The first flight carrying French nationals touched down in Paris earlier this morning. Officials had reserved approximately 100 seats specifically for elderly and vulnerable citizens on their priority list.

The Italian government confirmed it has successfully extracted its students from Dubai, who have now safely arrived back in Milan.

The British government announced that a chartered flight will depart from Oman tonight to bring home thousands of UK citizens currently stranded in various Gulf nations.

Travel throughout the Middle East has become exceptionally difficult as the majority of commercial airlines have suspended operations due to the escalating violence. With millions of people effectively stranded across different borders, governments are increasingly shifting their focus toward using military assets and private chartered aircraft to prioritize the safe extraction of their populations from the volatile region.
