Four individuals, including an RCMP officer, were taken to hospital with minor injuries following a collision between an RCMP vehicle and an SUV last night in Surrey.
The incident occurred yesterday around 8:30 p.m., forcing the closure of the intersection of 176 Street and 64 Avenue for several hours overnight.
Authorities stated that officers from the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) were responding to an emergency call when the RCMP police vehicle, driven by a lone officer, was struck by an SUV at the intersection.
The occupants of the SUV, two adults and a young child, were transported to hospital by BCEHS and examined by medical staff, who determined they had no injuries. The RCMP officer was also taken to hospital for examination and later released with minor injuries.
SPOSU’s Major Crime MVI Unit has taken over the investigation, with assistance from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS). The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
