VICTORIA, BC – Four individuals are facing charges following a significant drug trafficking investigation by the VicPD’s General Investigative Services (GIS) section that culminated in the seizure of 20 firearms, over 20,000 rounds of ammunition, 4.5 kilograms of cocaine, and $27,000 in cash. The charges against the two men and two women were approved by Federal crown counsel on June 11, 2025
Police said that the extensive investigation began in early June 2024, when GIS officers initiated a covert operation targeting a suspected drug trafficker. “This led to a search warrant being granted for a residence in the 800-block of Pintail Place in Langford. On June 25, 2024, Kelt Haymes was arrested at the Langford residence by a combined force including West Shore RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, and VicPD’s Strike Force team. A search of the property uncovered the substantial cache of weapons, drugs, ammunition, and cash, along with two sets of ballistic armour,” police added.
Kelt Haymes faces one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, and one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Lain Babin has been charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Sarah Bonin is charged with one count of trafficking cocaine.
Abigail Lopez faces one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
