Extortion-related violence resurfaces in Lower Mainland as shots fired at Delta business

Concerns over a violent extortion wave have been reignited in the Lower Mainland after a targeted shooting at a business in Delta early Friday morning.

At approximately 3:33 am on March 13, 2026, the Delta Police Department (DPD) responded to reports of gunfire in the 7500 block of Vantage Place, located within the Tilbury Industrial Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple bullet casings and confirmed that the building had been struck several times.

Police said that fortunately, the business was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Surveillance footage from the area captured a white sedan pulling up to the premises. The occupants of the vehicle fired multiple rounds into the business before speeding away.

The Delta Police Extortion Task Force (D-ETF), which was already on duty as part of an ongoing regional effort to combat organized intimidation, has taken over the investigation. Early findings suggest the attack was not random.

“Preliminary investigative information indicates this to be a targeted incident, believed to be related to extortion,” the DPD stated in a news release.

This latest incident signals a troubling return of extortion-related violence that has plagued business owners across the Lower Mainland over the past year. Law enforcement agencies have been struggling to dismantle networks that use “drive-by” shootings and arson to intimidate local entrepreneurs into paying “protection money.”

The Provincial Extortion Task Force Investigators are currently cross-referencing this shooting with other active files to determine if it is linked to a larger criminal syndicate operating across Surrey, Abbotsford, and Vancouver.

Police remain on the scene at Tilbury Industrial Park, canvassing for witnesses and collecting additional CCTV footage from neighboring businesses.

Authorities are urging anyone with dashcam footage from the area of Vantage Place between 3:00 am and 4:00 am today, or anyone with information regarding the white sedan, to contact the Delta Police Department immediately.
