A driver was arrested after a traffic stop by West Shore RCMP led to the seizure of drugs and a prohibited weapon.
According to authorities, on the evening of August 17, a West Shore RCMP Frontline officer conducting a routine patrol pulled over a GMC Yukon for a burnt-out taillight.
Inside the vehicle, the officer observed open liquor and began an impaired driving investigation. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a small amount of suspected oxycontin pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a firearm, and brass knuckles.
The driver, identified as a 50-year-old man, was determined to be sober. He was, however, arrested in connection with drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect was later released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
