British Columbia MLA Dallas Brodie, who was abruptly removed as leader of the OneBC party earlier this month, has announced her reinstatement to the position.

In a statement shared via social media, Brodie revealed that following “difficult 10 days” involving extensive negotiations and serious discussions, she has regained control of the party. The OneBC party confirmed the move in a brief social media post, stating that the organization is now fully “back to work.”

Brodie explained that the internal rift began when party colleagues attempted to prevent her from firing a caucus staff member. According to Brodie, the staff member in question held “reprehensible” and antisemitic views regarding Jewish people, which she found intolerable, leading to her decision to seek their dismissal.

The leadership crisis highlighted significant friction within the small party. Tara Armstrong, the only other elected member of OneBC in the B.C. Legislature, had previously stated publicly that she had lost confidence in Brodie’s leadership.

OneBC was formed earlier this year after both Armstrong and Brodie broke away from the B.C. Conservatives to establish an independent political entity. With Brodie’s reinstatement, the party appears to be attempting to present a united front once again, though questions remain regarding the long-term relationship between its two sitting MLAs.
