Coquitlam RCMP Seek Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage in Child Hit-and-Run Case

Police in Metro Vancouver are calling for additional witnesses and dash-camera footage following a hit-and-run incident last month involving a child. According to the RCMP, officers were called to assist the BC Ambulance Service after a seven-year-old child was struck by an SUV in an alleyway in Port Coquitlam on June 23rd.

Although the driver initially fled the scene, police later located both the individual and their vehicle, identified as a grey 2016 Jeep Cherokee. Evidence from the incident will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for potential criminal charges. Mounties are asking for witnesses and dash-camera footage from the area of the crash north of Coquitlam Avenue near Wellington Street at about 3:45 pm to the time the driver was located an hour later.
