Frank Caputo, the Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Safety, has written a letter to Canada’s Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree to formally request that the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang be designated as a terrorist organization under Canadian law.
The activities of the Bishnoi Gang clearly justify its classification as a terrorist entity. As you are aware, they have claimed responsibility for widespread violence both within Canada and internationally. Their actions include political shootings, extortion targeting South Asian Canadians, and acts of extreme violence. The Gang’s motives are political, religious, and ideological, and its members openly boast about these actions to intimidate other potential victims.
He urges the federal government to list the Bishnoi Gang as a terrorist entity to equip law enforcement and all levels of government with the necessary tools to combat their activities effectively. Such a designation would enable the government to impose financial, criminal, and property sanctions against the Gang. Furthermore, he asks Gary Anandasangaree to consider the broad political support for this designation. From BC Premier David Eby and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith to Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke, there is a clear consensus for the federal government to take this step. Law enforcement officials have also discussed this issue, witnessing firsthand the Bishnoi Gang’s reign of terror within the South Asian community and across Canada.
