A Brampton truck driver is among two people facing charges after drugs were discovered in vehicles during separate border inspections.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said that on August 13, a commercial truck entering Canada from the United States at the Blue Water Bridge near Sarnia was sent for a secondary inspection. Officers found six boxes containing suspected cocaine, weighing 150 kg, with an estimated street value of $18.8 million. Gurjeet Singh, 28, of Brampton, was arrested and handed over to the RCMP.

The following day, August 14, another U.S.-bound tractor-trailer was referred for inspection. Officers discovered 199 kg of suspected cocaine in the trailer, valued at about $24.9 million. Abdikadir Egal, 38, of Toronto, was arrested and turned over to the RCMP along with the narcotics.

Both men are now facing charges of importing cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The investigations remain ongoing, and none of the charges have been proven in court.
