The Lower Mainland District Joint Force Operation (JFO) has charged two suspects in connection with extortion-related offences dating back to 2024.

On October 6, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges against two men following a JFO-led investigation launched in January 2025. The specialized team has been working diligently under a focused mandate and strategic direction to advance these cases.

The JFO took over an August 2024 investigation into a shooting and arson at the Surrey home of a person who had received extortion threats. After an extensive investigation, charges have been approved against 26-year-old Abjeet Kingra and 24-year-old Vikram Sharma. Both face counts of discharging a firearm with intent and arson.

Kingra was recently sentenced for firing at Punjabi singer A.P. Dhillon’s Vancouver Island house. Sharma, meanwhile, is wanted on an active arrest warrant for discharging a firearm with intent and arson related to a West Shore RCMP investigation. A second warrant has now been issued for the new charges.

Vikram Sharma is described as:

  • South Asian male
  • 5’9” (174 cm)
  • 181 lbs (82 kg)
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes

“We recognize that charges in one case do not erase the community’s fear and concern about ongoing extortion incidents,” said Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound, Lower Mainland Assistant District Commander. “However, these charges demonstrate our commitment to public safety. With a dedicated task force and additional resources, we are better positioned to pursue multiple suspect groups and move investigations toward further charges.”

Anyone with information on Vikram Sharma’s whereabouts is asked to contact police or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
