Prime Minister Mark Carney is scheduled to meet privately with his cabinet in Toronto on Wednesday and Thursday. The meetings are being held ahead of the fall legislative session.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the meetings will focus on fast-tracking approvals for major projects, making housing more affordable, and helping sectors impacted by U.S. tariffs to retool and diversify.

The federal government faces a packed political agenda this fall, including U.S. President Donald Trump’s global tariff war and the release of a rare October budget, which will be Carney’s first since taking office.

This will be Carney’s second cabinet retreat since winning the election. While media were not permitted at his first retreat in Quebec, journalists will be allowed on-site for this one.

The Liberal caucus is expected to meet in Edmonton before Parliament resumes on September 15.
