Canadian authorities have seized approximately 8,000 kilograms of illicit drugs and $13.46 million in cash as part of a major nationwide initiative, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced today in a press release.

The operation, dubbed “National Fentanyl Sprint 2.0,” ran from May 20 to October 31 and resulted in the seizure of 386 kg of fentanyl, 5,989 kg of cocaine, and 1,708 kg of methamphetamine.

The initiative involved 21 Canadian law enforcement agencies and government partners, coordinated by the Canadian Integrated Response to Organized Crime (CIROC).

RCMP Assistant Commissioner Bonnie Ferguson emphasized the goal of the collaborative effort in a statement: “The purpose of the Canadian Integrated Response to Organized Crime is clear: to coordinate efforts to detect, pursue, contest, and deter organized crime.”

Ferguson further stressed the importance of cooperation: “It is crucial for Canadian law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies, and government partners to work together to keep our communities safe. The results announced today demonstrate the resolve of countless law enforcement members who follow every avenue to stop and dismantle the importation, production, and trafficking of fentanyl.”
