Canada Post has announced a reduction in the frequency of its door-to-door letter mail delivery service.

This change is expected to increase the average delivery time for letter mail from three to four days to an average of three to seven days.

Public Works and Procurement Minister Joel Lightbound announced today that Ottawa has accepted all the recommendations from the Industrial Inquiry Commission’s report on Canada Post.

The report also recommends changes to the company’s collective agreement, which would allow the postal service to hire part-time workers for weekends to help manage the weekday workload.
