The Government of Canada has added four new organizations to the list of terrorist entities under the Criminal Code.

The newly listed groups are 764, Maniac Murder Cult, the Terrorgram Collective, and Islamic State–Mozambique, an ISIS affiliate.

According to a federal news release, the additions are part of Canada’s efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism—particularly the online radicalization of youth.

“These measures help protect Canadians and communities from intimidation, hate, and acts of violent extremism and terrorism,” the government stated.

With the new designations, Canadian law enforcement and security agencies gain additional tools to “prevent and disrupt terrorist activity.”

All property belonging to these groups in Canada must now be frozen and reported to the RCMP or CSIS. It is also a criminal offence for anyone in Canada or Canadians abroad to knowingly conduct any transactions involving the entities’ property.

The government added that providing financial services or other assets that benefit these groups is prohibited, and immigration and border officials can use the listings when assessing admissibility under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
