On July 27, 2025, at 8:52 p.m., Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred in Central Park.
According to police, a woman was walking in the park when an unknown man approached her and inappropriately touched her buttocks and lower back. Although she was not physically injured, the woman managed to escape and report the incident to authorities.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the assault.
Burnaby RCMP Victim Services is currently supporting the victim.
The suspect is described as:
- Possibly Caucasian
- Between 20 and 30 years old
- Medium-length curly brown or blonde hair
At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing:
- Dark clothing
- A long-sleeve shirt or hoodie
- A baseball cap
“We encourage anyone who was in the park and may have witnessed the incident to contact our investigators at 604-646-9999 and reference file number 2025-26188,” said Corporal Laura Hirst, Media Relations Officer for Burnaby RCMP.
Burnaby RCMP also shared the following safety tips:

- Plan routes that avoid isolated areas
- Trust your instincts
- Avoid situations that feel unsafe
