Burnaby RCMP are investigating a sexual assault that occurred at Lobley Park, near the 6500 block of Marlborough Avenue.
On February 6, 2026, shortly after 7:45 p.m., Burnaby frontline officers responded to a report of a sexual assault in the southwest corner of the park, near Grimmer Street and Dunblane Avenue.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, was walking through the park when an unknown man grabbed her from behind. The suspect covered her mouth with one hand and touched her groin and buttocks with the other. The woman fought back, prompting the man to flee through the park toward Marlborough Avenue.
Integrated Police Dog Services attended to assist in locating the suspect, but he was not found.
“Given that the incident occurred after dark and the woman was grabbed from behind, we are sharing the best description available at this time,” said Corporal Laura Hirst, Burnaby RCMP Media Relations Officer. The suspect is described as 5’8″ to 5’11″, medium build, between 30 and 40 years old, and wearing all black.
Burnaby RCMP’s High Risk Offender Unit is actively investigating the case and taking all measures to identify the suspect.
