Burnaby RCMP say officers responded to a report of a threat at Burnaby North Secondary School just before 1 p.m. on March 12, 2026. Frontline officers arrived within minutes and worked quickly to assess the safety of students and staff, while the school was placed on a temporary lockdown as a precaution.
Police later cleared the school and determined the threat was not credible. The Burnaby School District said students and staff were directed into classrooms, with doors locked and windows closed until the lockdown was lifted at about 2 p.m.
RCMP say this is the second similar incident at the school this week, and both remain under active investigation as officers work to identify those responsible. Police note that such incidents can cause concern in the community and encourage anyone needing support to contact Burnaby RCMP Victim Services.
