Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament and actor Kangana Ranaut on Monday apologized in the Bathinda court for comments she made about 73-year-old woman farmer Mahender Kaur during the 2020-21 farmers’ protest.
Soon after appearing in court, the BJP leader told reporters that she had apologized to the complainant’s husband in court. Mahender Kaur was not present at the district court during the appearance.
Ranaut added that she regrets her social media post against the 73-year-old.
In her complaint, Mahender Kaur had alleged that Kangana defamed her in a post on the social media platform X by falsely identifying her as Shaheen Bagh protester Bilkis Bano. The complaint stated that Ranaut had also suggested that such women were being hired to protest for ₹100 during the farmers’ demonstrations.
