The B-C General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) has announced it has reached a tentative deal with the provincial government to end its strike action.

The union confirmed that the agreement was secured after eight days of mediated talks with the province. The terms of the tentative agreement include a three per cent (3%) annual wage increase for its members over four years.

BCGEU President Paul Finch stated that the deal represents a step toward fairness and is expected to help the province retain experienced public servants.

However, the labour dispute is not entirely resolved, as the Professional Employees Association (PEA) remains on strike. The PEA confirmed that it met with the provincial government on Sunday in the hopes of reaching an agreement to end its ongoing job action.
