A Langley-based traditional Chinese medicine practitioner has been suspended by his regulatory college after allegedly spying on a patient in his clinic’s washroom.

The College of Complementary Health Professionals of B.C. took the “extraordinary action” against Changsoo Lee on Dec. 31, with the reasons for the order published online this week. The allegations against Lee have not been proven.

A panel of the college’s inquiry committee found a prima facie case of sexual misconduct and determined that Lee’s registration should be suspended “to protect the public during an investigation.”

According to the order, a member of the public filed a complaint alleging that Lee “engaged in sexual misconduct by using a mirror to look under the door of a washroom located in his clinic while the complainant was inside.”

The complainant also reported the incident to the RCMP. Lee was subsequently charged with secretly observing or recording nudity in a private place, according to the college.

CTV News has contacted the Langley RCMP and the B.C. Prosecution Service for further information about the investigation and the criminal charge. Updates will be provided if a response is received.

“The panel concluded that suspension is proportionate and necessary to protect the public during the investigation or pending any disciplinary hearing,” the order states.

“The panel determined that interim measures short of suspension would not adequately mitigate the risk that the registrant could engage in voyeurism in another form while practicing the regulated profession.”
