A teenager from the Fraser Valley was caught driving at 178 km/h in the rain, according to police.
In a news release, B.C. Highway Patrol stated that the 17-year-old driver from Abbotsford “will remember the expensive and uncomfortable consequences of his first traffic stop for a long time.”
Authorities reported that the young driver was spotted “passing other vehicles at high velocity” in a Honda sedan along Highway 1.
Because he was driving in a 100 km/h zone, the teenager was issued a $483 fine for excessive speeding, which is defined as travelling more than 60 km/h over the limit.
B.C. Highway Patrol added that the boy was also caught violating multiple restrictions on his Class 7 novice driver’s licence, resulting in two additional tickets of $109 each.
