The B.C. police watchdog is investigating after a man was shot and killed during a confrontation with RCMP at a home on the Sunshine Coast.
A statement from the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) says officers received a call early Saturday about a man carrying weapons who was in crisis in the Porpoise Bay area.
The IIO says the man later entered a house where four other people were present.
The office states that police entered the home and safely removed three of the occupants, but shots were later fired.
They confirmed that the man who was the subject of the call sustained gunshot-related injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
