A Metro Vancouver hockey coach has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation following an investigation into historical allegations dating back to 2008.

New Westminster police say 58-year-old Ronald Veit of Surrey faces the charges, which have not yet been proven in court. The alleged offences are said to have occurred between September 2008 and May 2012 in Langley, Surrey, New Westminster, Coquitlam, and Burnaby.

Veit has been released on several conditions, including having no contact with anyone under 18 unless a parent or guardian is present. He is also prohibited from visiting parks, schools, community centres, or playgrounds.

However, police say an exception has been made for skating rinks, allowing Veit to continue coaching hockey as long as other adults are present.
