The B.C. Green Party has joined the chorus of voices criticizing Premier David Eby’s call for the federal government to cancel or reform the temporary foreign worker program.
Interim leader Jeremy Valeriote stated that companies that abuse the system should be blamed, not the migrant workers themselves. Valeriote’s comments came after former NDP cabinet minister Katrina Chen expressed her fury over Eby’s remarks, arguing that they unfairly target immigrants while related services remain underfunded.
Eby’s statements have echoed those of federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, who has also called for the temporary foreign worker program to be shut down.
