The B.C. government announced a $35 million investment to support clean energy projects over the next ten years.

Applications are now open for the latest round of the CleanBC Industry Fund, launched Tuesday, which aims to help companies adopt technologies focused on electrification and achieving net-zero emissions.

Provincial Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions Adrian Dix stated that these projects are expected to cut more than 14 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over the next decade.

“These initiatives include electrifying oil and gas operations, capturing carbon at industrial sites, boosting energy efficiency in manufacturing, and reducing methane and landfill emissions. They represent some of Canada’s most innovative climate solutions, and they’re being developed right here in B.C.,” Dix said during a media briefing Tuesday morning.

He emphasized the importance of B.C. increasing its energy self-sufficiency amid U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods.

“The global economy is changing, and B.C. has the opportunity to lead by demonstrating what a clean, sustainable, and competitive economy looks like. We’re making smart, practical investments that support a long-term economic strategy, energy independence, and climate resilience. Industry is a vital partner in this transition.”

The province said projects will be selected through a competitive cost-benefit analysis.

“Funding will be provided through milestone-based agreements with performance metrics to ensure targeted emissions reductions are achieved,” the government explained.
