Police officers from 21 Division have arrested and charged a man with multiple dangerous driving offences following a car meet at a Brampton plaza.

Around 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, officers responded to reports of large gatherings and reckless driving at Trinity Common Mall. They spotted a white Dodge Challenger being driven dangerously and attempted to stop it. The driver tried to escape, but officers managed to block the vehicle, preventing a pursuit. The suspect then abandoned the car and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested after a short chase.

The driver, 21-year-old Ajaypreet Sidhu of Brampton, is facing several charges, including:

  • Racing a motor vehicle
  • Making unnecessary noise
  • Driving without a muffler
  • Obstructing a licence plate
  • Driving not in accordance with emission regulations
  • Failing to surrender a licence
  • Causing a public nuisance
  • Fleeing from police

Sidhu was released with conditions and will appear in court at a later date. His licence was suspended, and his vehicle impounded.

Police say they will continue regular patrols at plazas across the region, including Trinity Common Mall. Residents may notice an increased police presence to ensure public safety. Authorities stressed that illegal activities—such as large unauthorized gatherings, dangerous driving, public drinking, fireworks, and excessive noise—will not be tolerated.
