Disability Alliance BC (DABC) has announced that applications are now open for its 2025/2026 Accessibility Projects Grants, starting Tuesday, August 5.
The Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction has allocated $450,000 to DABC to be distributed as community grants aimed at enhancing accessibility and inclusion throughout British Columbia. First launched in 2018 to mark BC’s inaugural Accessibility Week, the grant program has supported more than 95 projects to date.
“Our province becomes stronger and more vibrant when every British Columbian, regardless of ability, feels valued and supported,” said Dana Lajeunesse, Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility. “With applications now open for the renewed Accessibility Projects Grants, we’re eager to see organizations across B.C. break down barriers and help create lasting opportunities for people with disabilities to fully participate.”
Eligible organizations can apply for up to $40,000 to fund year-long community engagement initiatives that promote long-term improvements for the over 900,000 British Columbians (24.7% of residents over age 15) living with disabilities. The program encourages applications from rural areas, intersectional disability communities, and projects shaped by the lived experiences and expertise of people with disabilities.
Projects must align with one of the following focus areas:
Accessible employment
Accessible emergency planning and response
Accessible arts, culture, and tourism
Accessible sports and recreation
Accessible education and learning
Accessible community participation
The deadline to submit applications is Friday, September 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
Successful applicants will receive funding to carry out their accessibility initiatives in 2026.
