Much More Than A Walk – It’s A Celebration

As we near the opening of the GoodLife Family Fitness Autism Centre, Autism Speaks Canada and the Pacific Autism Family Foundation will host a community ’sneak peek’ and preview of this amazing facility during our annual autism walk and festival Oct 1.

Please join us in Richmond on Sunday, October 1 where we expect over 2,000 participants who will be gathering to support the autism community with this exciting FREE, fun, family event.

Autism affects many millions worldwide with 1 in every 68 children being diagnosed. Autism is 4 times more common among boys with 1 out of 54 boys and 1 in every 252 girls.
As well, with a 1,000% increase of diagnosed children over the past 40 years, autism has become a widely discussed topic and has more media coverage than ever before.
ASC is powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum including many devoted corporate providers. Fund raising efforts have generated vital funds for research, family services and advocacy, while also raising awareness of the increasing prevalence of autism. Autism Speaks Canada along with Autism Speaks has grown into North America’s largest autism science and advocacy organization. In 10 years we have funded $7,400,000M in Science and Research Grants in Canada and in the last 5 years $4,000,000M has been awarded in Family Service Grants, 1.2 million in BC alone. This is why we walk.

Participating provides a great opportunity to support the autism community benefiting a cause that affects all ages, ethnicities and all socio-economic groups. It is an opportunity for you to build new and deeper community networks.

Please check our website for updates to Register; Donate; or Volunteer. You will enjoy all the fun & family events the Walk has to offer plus tour the new autism centre.
