Abbotsford farmers face uncertainty as city issues evacuation orders amid flooding fears

Abbotsford has issued evacuation alerts and orders in Sumas Prairie and Clayburn Village due to heavy rain from an atmospheric river, with 371 properties ordered to evacuate. Emergency shelter has been set up at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre, while farmers are urged to seek assistance for livestock. Local farmer Raj Waraich tells RED FM News Director Harjinder Thind that the farmers face continued uncertainty as saturated farmland increases the risk of renewed flooding, with reported livestock losses, especially in poultry.
