Abbotsford police say a suspect is in custody after a business in the city was targeted in a shooting overnight, marking the second such incident in just over a month.

Sgt. Paul Walker confirmed the shooting is linked to an extortion case.

Police responded around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday to reports of gunfire at a truck and trailer repair business on King Road near Clearbrook Road.

Officers quickly identified the suspect vehicle, which was later located in the eastern part of the city. The driver, the only person in the vehicle, was arrested on the spot. The Abbotsford Police Department confirmed that no one was injured.

Photos from the scene show damage to the property, including bullet holes and broken windows.

The same building was also shot at in the early morning hours of Nov. 12, with no injuries reported in that incident either.

Following the November shooting, police shared a video on social media of Chief Const. Colin Watson urging residents to avoid speculation as investigators work through that case and others.

In September, Abbotsford police established a local task force focused on extortion investigations, while also assisting a province-wide team formed for the same purpose.
