The charge against 29-year-old Abo Abdel Kurdali has been upgraded to second-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting at a Surrey residence on the morning of March 15, 2026.
On March 15, 2026, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was deployed following a fatal shooting at a home on the 13900 block of Laurel Drive in Surrey. One man was killed, and a suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

IHIT, working with the Surrey Police Service, the BC Coroners Service, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service, investigated the incident, which is believed to be isolated, with the victim and the accused known to each other.

Initially, the BC Prosecution Service charged Kurdali with manslaughter with a firearm.
