Hyundai Motor Company is recalling more than 69,000 vehicles across Canada and the United States due to a potential issue with power seats that may not stop moving, increasing the risk of injury.
According to Transport Canada, certain second- and third-row seats may fail to detect obstructions when using power-folding features such as automatic stow or one-touch tilt-and-slide. If this occurs, the seats could continue moving even when blocked.
In Canada, the recall affects 7,967 units of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade.
The recall follows a tragic incident in Ohio earlier in March in which a two-year-old child died. There have also been four reports of minor injuries linked to the vehicle’s rear power seats.
Owners will be notified by mail. In the meantime, Hyundai is developing an over-the-air software update to improve seat safety as an interim fix, with a permanent repair still in progress and to be provided free of charge once available.
