Iran has issued new warnings targeting recreational and tourist sites worldwide, while insisting it continues to build its missile capabilities, as fighting with the United States and Israel intensifies.

The U.S., which entered the conflict alongside Israel, has deployed additional warships and roughly 2,500 Marines three weeks into the war. Meanwhile, Iran has launched attacks on Israel and energy facilities in neighbouring Gulf Arab states during a period that coincides with both Nowruz and one of the holiest times in the Muslim calendar.

Information from inside Iran remains limited, making it unclear how much damage U.S. and Israeli strikes—ongoing since late February—have caused to Iran’s military, nuclear, and energy infrastructure, or who is firmly in control of the country’s leadership.

Despite the strikes, Iran’s actions continue to disrupt oil supplies, contributing to rising global fuel and food prices.

In a statement marking Nowruz, Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, praised the resilience of Iranians and rejected the idea that targeting senior leaders could destabilize the government.

At the same time, military spokesperson Abolfazl Shekarchi warned that public spaces such as parks and tourist destinations could become targets for Iran’s enemies, raising concerns about potential attacks beyond the Middle East.

Meanwhile the US President before departing for Florida on Friday, called on other countries to help ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz to maintain the flow of oil from the Persian Gulf. Donald Trump emphasized that the economic impact of disrupted oil shipments falls more heavily on other nations than on the U.S., noting, “We don’t need it. Europe needs it, Korea, Japan, China, a lot of other people, so they’ll have to get involved a little bit on that one.”

Earlier on Friday, the President was also asked whether he believes Israel would agree to end the ongoing conflict at the same time as the U.S.
