The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating the death of a 49-year-old man following a fatal incident at a home in Maple Ridge.

On March 16, 2026, around 7:30 p.m., officers with the Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to reports of a fight at a residence in the 23700 block of 110 Avenue. When police arrived, they found the man in medical distress. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, he died at the scene. One man was arrested and remains in custody.

IHIT has taken over the case and is working with the Ridge Meadows RCMP Serious Crime Unit, Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the BC Coroners Service as the investigation continues.

Investigators are working to determine the suspect’s exact role in the death. Police believe the incident was isolated and involved people known to each other, and say it is not linked to gang activity or extortion.

Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT said the quick response by frontline officers helped secure the scene for investigators, who remain in the area conducting witness interviews and reviewing surveillance footage.
