The Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating a second fatal pedestrian collision in less than 24 hours after a 45-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle early this morning. The incident took place in the 10400 block of 132 Street.
Incident and Emergency Response At approximately 7:33 a.m. on February 12, 2026, emergency crews responded to reports of a pedestrian involved in a serious collision. SPS Frontline officers, alongside Surrey Fire Services and BCEHS, arrived at the scene to find the victim with critical injuries. Despite exhaustive life-saving efforts by first responders, the 45-year-old woman tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Ongoing Investigation According to police, the driver of the vehicle remained on-site and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that impairment was not a factor in the crash, though the exact cause remains under investigation. The SPS Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) has taken conduct of the file to gather evidence and reconstruct the event.
Road Closures and Public Advisory As a result of the investigation, the 10400 block of 132 Street and surrounding intersections near 104 Avenue are expected to remain closed for several hours. Police are urging both motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area and utilize alternate routes until the scene is cleared.
A Somber Trend This morning’s fatality marks the second time in just 24 hours that a pedestrian has been killed on Surrey roads. It follows a separate incident yesterday evening where an 81-year-old woman was fatally struck in the Whalley area. The back-to-back tragedies have heightened concerns regarding pedestrian safety across the city.
