81-year-old pedestrian fatally struck in Whalley Neighborhood collision

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating a tragic road accident in the Whalley neighborhood that claimed the life of an 81-year-old female pedestrian. The collision occurred yesterday evening and has left the local community in mourning.

According to police reports, the incident took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. A vehicle was traveling eastbound in the 13800 block of 102 Avenue when it struck the elderly woman. Emergency responders, including Surrey Fire Services, BCEHS, and SPS Frontline members, arrived at the scene shortly after the call. Despite their best efforts to provide life-saving measures, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the location following the crash and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Preliminary findings by the police suggest that neither excessive speed nor impairment appears to be a contributing factor in this incident. The SPS Collision Investigation Unit continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
