Multiple Coquitlam schools on hold-and-secure following unconfirmed threats

Update by RCMP:“We want to assure the public that every measure will be taken to identify the origins of these threats,” says Inspector Veronica Fox, Community Programs and Administration Officer. “All of the affected schools have been cleared and the hold and secures have been lifted, however, out of an abundance of caution our officers continue to remain on-scene.”

Authorities have placed several schools in Coquitlam, B.C., under hold-and-secure protocols after unverified threats were reported. 

Coquitlam RCMP said officers are responding to alleged threats affecting “multiple schools” across the Coquitlam School District on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 12:25 p.m. on February 4, 2026, Coquitlam RCMP received a report of a possible threat to a school in the 500 block of Poirier Street, Coquitlam. The school was placed into a hold and secure. Out of abundance of caution additional schools in the area were also been placed in a hold and secure.

School District 43 serves Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore, and Belcarra. RCMP confirmed that affected schools are on hold-and-secure while officers remain on site and stated that no further information will be released while the incidents are ongoing. 

The alert follows a similar incident last week when Centennial Secondary School was placed on lockdown for over an hour due to an unfounded threat.
