US President Trump has suggested that U-S military action inside its southern neighbour might be a possibility. In response, Mexico has transferred 92 drug-cartel suspects to the U-S to face criminal charges, including 37 this week. U.S. authorities say they have taken custody of 37 fugitives transferred from Mexico who are wanted on a wide range of federal charges, including drug trafficking, firearms offenses, human smuggling, money laundering, and allegations tied to narcoterrorism. Officials say those transferred include alleged members of major drug cartels such as the Sinaloa Cartel, Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and others designated by the U.S. as foreign terrorist or global terrorist organizations.
U.S. justice and law enforcement leaders described the transfer as a significant step in efforts to dismantle transnational criminal groups, cut off drug and weapons trafficking, and hold suspects accountable in U.S. courts. They thanked Mexican authorities for their cooperation and said the move sends a message that alleged cartel leaders and associates will face prosecution regardless of borders.
