North Delta residence targeted in early morning shooting linked to extortion

The Delta Police Major Crime Section is investigating a targeted shooting that took place early Wednesday morning at a residence in North Delta. Investigators believe the incident is connected to a broader, ongoing extortion investigation.

At approximately 5:10 a.m. on January 7, 2026, patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 84 Avenue and Brooke Road following multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police confirmed that a home had been struck by bullets.

While the residence was occupied at the time of the shooting, Delta Police have confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Detectives have characterized the shooting as a targeted attack. The Delta Police Major Crime Section has taken the lead on the file and is currently working in coordination with partner law enforcement agencies across the region to determine the full scope of the incident.

The link to an active extortion investigation suggests this may be part of a series of threats targeting local residents and business owners, a trend that has prompted high-level concern from public safety officials recently.
