A senior member of the Canadian Armed Forces’ intelligence unit, Master Warrant Officer Matthew Robar, has been arrested and charged in a foreign interference investigation. He faces eight charges, including communicating protected operational information, breach of trust, improper storage of firearms-related materials, conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, and feigning illness.

The probe, which began in 2024, focuses on the alleged unauthorized disclosure of safeguarded information to a foreign entity, which has not been identified. Robar was arrested following a joint operation involving military police, the National Investigation Service, and the RCMP. If the case proceeds, it will be tried through a court martial. Military officials praised the coordinated effort behind the investigation.
